Nepal Buddhism

Nepal Buddhism Trip takes you to travel to major Buddhist destinations in Nepal.

Nepal is home to significant Buddhist monuments such as Boudha, Swayambhu and Namo Buddha among others. Nepal is also home to Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha.

Buddhist influences are pervasive in most aspects of Nepali culture. Tibetan Buddhism, Vajrayana Buddhism, and Theravada Buddhism are the most popular forms of Buddhism in Nepal.

Nestled across the backdrop of the Himalayas, Nepal is a diverse country hosting the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger; picture-perfect Pokhara to a few of the world’s highest peaks. At the heart of Nepal is enchanting the Kathmandu valley, almost a portal into medieval Nepal with its own cultural identity.

DAY 03:  Patan Mahabodhi Temple, Golden Temple, and Boudha

Boudhanath Stupa is the largest stupa in Nepal and the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism. The stupa is located on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.

Patan Mahabouddha Temple, built in the Shikhara Style, is adorned with hundreds of Terracotta tiles, each bearing an image of Buddha. The temple is modeled on the Mahaboudha Temple at Bodhgaya, India where Buddha gained enlightenment.

North of the Patan Durbar Square, we visit The Golden Temple, allegedly founded in the 12th Century. The temple is a magnificent example of courtyard Temple Architecture and also hosts a beautiful statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, Green Tara, Bodhisattva, and the four Lokeshvaras among others.
